Casa Massarì is located near the city of Lecce, in the beautiful Italian region of Apulia. This historic city in the South of Italy offers so much in terms of art and culture, with its rich Baroque monuments and long traditional affinity with Greek culture: for that, Lecce is nicknamed The Florence of The South.
One of the many peculiarities of Lecce is its particular kind of Limestone: precious because of its appearance, soft and workable, it is perfect for sculptures. In terms of food and gastronomy, the city and its surrounding area are famous for its olive oil and wine production.
Among the many sights that cannot be missed in Lecce, there are the Church of the Holy Cross, dating back to 1353, the main Cathedral – completely restored in 1659, the church of San Matteo, the Roman Amphiteatre – built in the second century and able to seat more than 25,000 people, and the Triumphal Arch, one of the three gates to enter the city’s historical center.
Lecce and its Mediterranean climate are also amazing for spending days in the many beautiful beaches in the surroundings, in front of a blue sea that seems taken directly from the most amazing dreams.
